Meisel Redesigns Acoustic Bass Stand With Adjustable Height and Neck Restraint Features

Bass players have long valued the MBS Acoustic Bass Stand from Meisel Stringed Instruments, because it’s a snap to set up and it offers unsurpassed stability and protection for instruments. Now this popular bass stand – which is the official stand of the International Society of Bassists -- is snappier and more secure than ever, thanks to a new, improved design.

Meisel has added two new features to the MBS Bass Stand: adjustable height and a neck restraining lever. The height of the MBS stand is now adjustable up to 10 inches. This means that bassists can place their instrument on the stand with the endpin extended.

This makes it much faster and more convenient for musicians to place a bass in the stand – something that’s especially welcomed when taking quick breaks or trying to secure an instrument on a darkened stage.  The adjustable height feature will also help protect the instrument, since players no longer have to “maneuver” their bass into the stand, which can cause nicks and damage.

The MBS’s second new feature – a neck restraining lever – will also help keep instruments more safe and damage-free.  The lever clasps the bass securely, holding it firmly in place and preventing it from falling off the stand.

“Bass players are always concerned about the security of their stand, because of the large size of their instrument.  They also want a stand that allows them to stow and remove their bass quickly and conveniently,” said Neil Lilien, president of Meisel Stringed Instruments.  “The new design of the MBS addresses both of these concerns, making this popular stand even more protective and convenient than before.”

The redesigned MBS includes all of the outstanding features of its predecessor, including a unique snap-in-place design that allows it to be set up in seconds and folded easily for transport. Its innovative locking mechanism, oversized legs and sturdy double-welded construction provide security and stability. For further protection, the MBS features a padded cradle, finish-friendly cushioning and rubberized caps. A padded bow holder is also included.

Made from double-welded industrial steel with a durable, baked-on black finish, the MBS resists day-to-day nicks and scratches and has an attractive appearance that does not detract from the elegance of the bass. Suitable for any bass from one-quarter to three-quarter size, the MBS Bass Stand has a new, lower suggested retail price of $74.95.

Meisel also offers the GV Violin/Viola Stand with a suggested retail price of $39.95, and the GC Cello Stand at $59.95. Like the MBS, these stands have also been redesigned to incorporate neck restraint levers, and feature the same snap-in-place design and durable construction as their predecessors.
