Meisel Stringed Instruments Introduces
The Band
Violin and Viola Pickup Systems

Meisel Stringed Instruments has introduced The Band, an innovative new pickup system made in England by Headway Electronics that makes it possible to turn any violin or viola into an electric instrument with the snap of two Velcro® straps.

A compact, durable, and easy-to-install pickup system, The Band can “electrify” any violin or viola without the need for modifications to the instrument itself. This breakthrough means that these instruments can now be electrified without risking damage that could result from permanent installations.

The Band wraps around the instrument under the strings and is firmly secured with two Velcro® hook-and-loop strips.  It can be attached and removed very easily in a three-step process:

1.    The end of The Band pickup tube is passed under the strings between the bridge and the tailpiece and wrapped around the narrow waist area.

2.    The two ends of the tube are firmly wrapped around the back of the instrument and the Velcro® hook-and-loop tape is secured.

3.    Another Velcro® hook-and-loop tape is wrapped around the first to provide added security.

With a suggested retail price of $199 (Violin), $239 (Viola), The Band sells well within the reach of students, who can use their amplified instrument to explore new musical genres and enhance their learning experience.

“We’re confident that The Band will appeal to students and professionals alike as an affordable, easily installed pickup system,” says Neil Lilien, President of Meisel Stringed Instruments.  “It sounds very good and has excellent feedback rejection. This product will make it possible for violin and viola players of all levels to expand their musical horizons.”
